Pasadena Pegfair Estates

This week I looked at a 3 bed/3 bath home in Pegfair Estates that is currently listed for $1,098,000. This home opens up beautifully to the pool/spa and has lovely views of the foothills.  Although it does need some updating the open floorplan would be a lovely setting for entertaining. According to the National Register of Historic places, Pegfair Estates is a grouping of 25 custom-designed single family houses built between 1961 and 1967. All of the houses are designed in the Modern Ranch style and many have Asiatic features, including houses designed by Neptune & Thomas and Heitschmidt & Thompson.

"Pegfair", the 70 year old Pasadena landmark, was previously owned by Hugh Hefner's former longtime girlfriend, actress/singer Barbi Benton, and her husband, George Gradow. In 2000 the couple sold the 5.27 acre estate for $4.5 million, which was a city record at the time.

The original owner Margaret Dumm named the Pegfair Estate as a take-off on "Pickfair," the famous Mary Pickford/Douglas Fairbanks home in Beverly Hills. In 2003 it sold again for $5.5 million. Pasadena Craftsman Bungalows

The Craftsman Bungalow is one of Pasadena’s popular architectural favorite as well as an all American housing style. Pasadena's top neighborhood for Craftsman Bungalows is Bungalow Heaven. Bungalow Heaven is a rare and mostly intact collection of over 800 homes built from the 1900's through the 1930's. Besides Bungalow Heaven, there are many other Pasadena neighborhoods where you will find Craftsman Bungalows.
